This was recently posted to the White Wolf News mailing list:
 “Only the hand that erases
can write the true thing.”
— Meister Eckhart

Someone had sliced open Ted’s forearms from wrist to elbow. They had pulled back the skin and pushed aside muscles and tendons, torn through nerves and blood vessels, until they exposed the yellow-white of bone. They had filled the cavities with carpet tacks, sewing needles, shards of a glass and razor blades. Then they had squeezed muscle, tendon and sinew back together, pulled the skin tight, and sewn it all together again without leaving a single stitch mark. Now Ted could feel the hundreds of jagged edges and merciless needles tearing into his arms as he typed, ripping into him like tiny teeth.
There's more!

The Dead Walk in December
In an RPGnet forum thread on introducing zombies into the new World of Darkness, "Black Hat" Matt McFarland revealed the following:
World of Darkness: Antagonists, for sale in December, has a chapter on building and using zombies. Now, since WoD isn't really an "apocalypse of the undead" type of scenario, we didn't focus too much on that kind of zombie, though you could do it. We dealt more with the Tales from the Crypt/Serpent and the Rainbow/The Crow styles of undead.

Shameless plug over.

Everyone loves Malcolm Sheppard's game proposals, right? From alt.games.whitewolf:

If you could have one last "original WoD" book published, what would it be?
For my part, I can only think of a few books I'd like to see, and all of them Year of the Lotus:

The revision of Demon Hunter X into an "all around demon hunting" sourcebook that Malcolm mentioned here once (any details, Malcolm? Pleeeze??^^)

I never sent in a serious proposal, but here's what I was thinking:

DEMON HUNTER ZERO

This book would emphasize the experiences of "sub-supernatural" beings: folks who are ultimately a part of and sometimes resist the machinations of the greater supernatural powers, but who serve as a kind of bridge between them and the mundane world.

We would use anime and wuxia *sparingly*, but still use it.

Perhaps the most important event in the history of White Wolf is happening right now.

A new, overhauled and streamlined World of Darkness is now out in its very own rulebook. Featuring all the rules you need to play a Storytelling game, details on the setting, and mortal character creation. Lots of suitably dark games are possible with this book alone (Silent Hill, the Sixth Sense, take your pick).

Releasing alongside is Vampire: The Requiem, an all-new look at the undead. Featuring everything you need to know about vampires and their society, and details on turning your existing mortal character into a vampire.

If you like darker games and horror, you should not miss these books.

My heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved with the creation of these books. You do fine, fine work.

Ghastly Fright – Ghosts have access to a number of supernatural powers, called Numina (singular Numen). These powers range from terrifying auras to outright possession of the living. The type of Numina a ghost has is dependent on its nature, personality, goals and the circumstances regarding its death. The number of powers it has depends on its age. As a general rule, a ghost has one Numen per 10 years since its death. A ghost that's been dead for 30 years can have up to three Numina. Of course, exceptions are possible in the case of exceptionally potent or willful spirits. Numina are not structured in levels like Kindred Disciplines, they're just a list, so any ghost can have any given Numen, provided that it's appropriate.

Here come the Black Hats – This week, we're talking about all the nasties, as it were. Each day this week, we'll give you a little insight into the antagonists from the World of Darkness Rulebook and Vampire: The Requiem.

Who you gonna call? – Ghosts are the spirits of mortals that linger in the physical world. Some are mere echoes of the dead, the residue of a soul eternally repeating a simple pattern of actions like a looping videotape. Others are true spirits that have become "lost" after death. Unable to continue on into the spirit realms, they haunt their old homes or workplaces, growing ever more lonely and frustrated with each passing decade. Still others cling to the physical realm through sheer force of will, unable to leave behind unfinished business.
