Pendragon
This interesting tidbit appeared on WW's Pendragon forums:
Dear Pendragon Fans,

I have seen some curiosity about the Arthaus plans for Pendragon. I can provide a little bit of information that I know.

I am Greg Stafford, the originator of the game. I have been hired by Arthaus to prepare a new 5th edition of the game, and some other items as well.

I have completed a new edition and submitted it for publication, so it ought to be released on time at GenCon this summer, in August.

Read more for more details!
The first release will be a hard cover edition selling for $34.99.

The game system is essentially the same as the 4th edition. ArtHaus agrees that the changes made by GK (such as starting of more powerful) are unnecessary, hence the return to the original.

However, the 5th edition does have some changes. It is less ambitious than the 5th edition, almost a return to the 4th edition. Beginning knights will be Christian Cymric knights from Salisbury.

However, the plan is to emphasize the entire campaign, and so the game starts in the reign of Uther Pendragon, approximately 485, and the rule book is written from that point. Thus Merlin is still quite active, and some other cool stuff is in the game now from the start.

There is, however, a chapter on "In the Future" that has the rules for Romance, Chivalry and other parts of the game that are not active in Uther's more barbaric Dark Age reign.

The rules are essentially unchanged, except for some clarification and smoothing out. One change is that the two types of contemporary Christianity (British and Roman) are offered.

Because the overall campaign is to be emphasized from the start, I am also currently writing the Great Pendragon Campaign, a book similar to The Boy King but covering, year by year, the whole of the campaign from Uther in 485 to the end, Le Morte. It will contain the Saxons Wars and some notes for the Grail Quest. The whole campaign.

Some folks have asked if certain supplements will be reprinted. In fact, they are all being prepared for online release at drivethrurpg.com, and by the time the game is released most of them ought to be available. I was told that eight of them are done already.

So, this is what I, only the author, know. I will be glad to answer other questions on this forum if I know them. I am not the line developer, just a writer and designer. But this is my favorite game of the seven rpgs I have had published, and I am thrilled to death to be working on it again, and will be checking in from time to time to answer what I can.

Sincerely,

Greg Stafford
